Dicoblue PS may now be best known for his decisive wins in the international hunter derby arena, but he has also been successful as both a junior and amateur-owner hunter, and he got his competitive start in the jumper ring. Currently owned by John & Stephanie Ingram, LLC, "Blue" has proven that he is no "one trick pony;" regardless of who is in the irons, his consistency, elegance, and style always help him rise to the top.
Elite hunter rider Victoria Colvin found Blue two years ago in Ocala, Florida, for his previous owners, the Castellanos family, when he was still focused on the jumper ring. But she loved his feeling, and suspected he would excel in the hunters as well. In the years to follow, Colvin became his primary competition rider, with good results in both the green and performance hunter divisions. Blue made his international hunter derby debut in May 2024 with Colvin in the $25,000 RBD Classic Cup, held at the Aiken Charity Horse Show (South Carolina). But as his experience in this format grew, it was in 2025 that the Oldenburg gelding began to truly make his presence on the international derby circuit known.
In addition to wins at the Hampton Classic (New York), Great Lakes Equestrian Festival (Michigan), Aiken Charity Show II (South Carolina), the World Equestrian Center-Ocala (Florida), and Winter Equestrian Festival (Florida), Blue defended an early lead to win the Platinum Performance/USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship (Kentucky) in August. With this win, Colvin became the only rider yet to capture the title four times with four different horses.
"Dicoblue PS is super special," said Colvin after their championship win. "I've been riding him for a couple of years, and I've done mainly derbies with him, but he's still a little green. He has shown once under lights, but he's not quite used to this atmosphere. I wasn't completely sure what to expect, but he went out there and was amazing. He didn't even bat an eye.
"Every time he walks in the ring, he wants to win," she continued. "He has rarely ever put a foot wrong. I think the worst thing is maybe a rub. He is a very talented horse, and always wants to do well."
Earlier in the week, the pair also took second in the Platinum Performance USHJA 3'6″/3'9″ Green Hunter Incentive Championship.
Described by his connections as a "super sweet animal who loves to go in and compete," Blue is also known for his quiet, polite temperamentâ€"qualities which help him to shine under pressure.
"He just wants to do well," Colvin has said of Blue. "He's a trier."
But an even further testament to Blue's good nature is that his co-owner, John Ingram, competes him in the amateur-owner division alongside Colvin's efforts in the open ring.
In recognition of his consistent success in 2025, Dicoblue PS was named a U.S. Equestrian Federation National Horse of Honor, and he carried that momentum forward into the new year. During the World Championship Hunter Rider Week at the Winter Equestrian Festival in February 2026, Blue again wore the champion rosetteâ€"this time for topping the field in the $150,000 WCHR Peter Wetherill Palm Beach Hunter Spectacular. Not only was this Colvin's seventh career win in the event, Blue scored a perfect 100 from panel three during his handy round. That weekend, Blue was also named the WCHR Hunter of the Year.
